The DPD Camera System Monitoring Center is being moved to a new area at City Hall with more room and sufficient air conditioning, but we still need your help. Downtown Dallas Inc. has raised more than $32,000 to replace Camera Center workstations, screens, and add several flat panel wall monitors. Downtown Dallas, Inc. raised funds from West End Association to fund the new DPD Camera Center.
Donations are still being accepted, as we continue to improve the Downtown Camera System. Last year seven Downtown Dallas, Inc. Stakeholders donated $75,000 to support Phase II. We now have 90 DPD Cameras operating Downtown – monitored 24 hours per day, by DPD Operators. The DPD Camera System has had a significant impact on crime and the Quality of Life in Downtown Dallas – a 20% drop in Vehicle Burglaries and 18% drop in crime this year alone!
