Downtown Dallas, Inc., (DDI) the leading voice for our city’s urban core for more than 60 years, has long advocated for our key priorities at all levels of government.

Now, we’ve formalized that work with our first set of state legislative priorities endorsed by our DDI Board of Directors earlier this month.

DDI’s Legislative Priorities for the 87th Legislative Session are aligned with the key tenets of the organization’s strategy as outlined in The 360 Plan, originally adopted in 2011 and updated in 2017. We also worked to ensure our priorities are consistent with those outlined by the City of Dallas and other partner organizations.

Specifically, we will advocate for key priorities on Economic Development, Public Safety, Public Education and Workforce, Housing, and Quality of Life. A summary of our legislative agenda can be found below [explore our complete legislative priorities].

DDI is also working closely with other major Texas city downtown organizations to align priorities and advocacy during the state legislative session. The Texas Metro Downtowns Coalition represents over 5,000 Texas property owners and 13,000 downtown Texas businesses in seven of the largest cities in Texas: Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.  Explore our joint legislative priorities.
