In 2010, he was the first to be named LGBT Person of the Year by the “Dallas Voice” for his efforts after the raid of the Rainbow Lounge and he served as Grand Marshall for Fort Worth’s 30th Gay Pride Parade.

In 2022, he was awarded the Randolph B. “Mike” Campbell Award by the Texas State Historical Association for best new entry into the Handbook of Texas, for his chapter “Fort Worth LGBTQ Community.” He’s currently the founder/director of YesterQueer, the Fort Worth Gay History Project and the monthly host of the Gay History Happy Hour at Liberty Lounge. He’s also currently working on two concurrent books – one on his more than 180-year-old Fort Worth neighborhood, Chase Court, and another on the history of the Tarrant County LGBTQA+ community.
