Craig Baker is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group at Gardere. He primarily focuses in the areas of hospitality, leasing, retail/restaurants and traditional real estate investment and development. He represents investors, developers, REITS, sellers and purchasers of hotels, retail centers, apartments, office buildings, medical office buildings, industrial warehouses and raw land. He also routinely represents landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions.
Mr. Baker’s practice experience encompasses the full range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, zoning, formation of ownership entities, and structuring debt and equity financing on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Baker received a Business Administration degree at Baylor University (1991) and graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law, cum laude (1995). He was Comment Editor (1994 – 1995) and Staff Member (1993 – 1994) for the Texas Tech Law Review.
He is very involved in his community and serves in several boards & associations: Cotton Bowl Athletic Association, AT&T Cotton Bowl Team Selection Committee, The Children’s Trust, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Downtown Dallas, Inc., The Real Estate Council, The Real Estate Roundtable, State Bar of Texas, Real Estate Law Section, Dallas Bar Association, Real Property Section, Baylor University Alumni Association, and Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Craig and his wife Jana, an employment lawyer, live in University Park with their two sons, Campbell (10) and Andrew (7). In his spare time, he enjoys coaching his sons’ sports teams, college football, golf, duck hunting in Colorado.

Craig’s favorite Downtown memory is seeing the Downtown skyline at night, as a kid was always thrilling. As a teenager, he remembers taking the elevator to the top of Reunion Tower with my friends, and walking down the internal staircase to the bottom. He says it seemed like a good idea, at the time.
Craig supports Downtown Dallas, Inc. because he believes DDI is an organization of action, not words.
