Randy Jolly, Assistant VP Marketing Communications, Texas A&M University-Commerce moved to Dallas in 1972 after graduating from Abilene Christian University. He established an advertising agency specializing in corporate communications for small to medium-size businesses. After several years of working with national clients he decided to produce a series of hard cover books featuring U.S. military aircraft. After meeting with the Secretary of Defense and senior leadership at the Pentagon, he was granted access to military installations worldwide where he accumulated almost 1,000 hours of flight time in military jets and helicopters. The Real Heroes series of books featured the Army, Air Force and the Marine Corps. Photos and articles appeared in domestic and international publications, and his photos were featured twice on the cover of Newsweek. Four volumes of The Real Heroes were published in the process. Following his career as a photojournalist he established a corporate communication consultant firm that worked extensively with Boeing, other defense-related companies and the Department of Defense.

In 2006 he joined Texas A&M University-Commerce to lead their marketing communications efforts, and now serves as the assistant vice president of marketing communications.

Do you know?

Randy’s favorite Downtown hotspots are the Myerson and the Farmers Market. He especially enjoys the Myerson, when the symphony is featuring Beethoven.

Randy is passionate about Downtown because it epitomizes the spirit of Texans getting things done.

Randy’s favorite Downtown memory is when Texas A&M University-Commerce held a press conference at City Hall, and Mayor Leppert was able to sneak in at the last minute. He quickly asked what his talking points were, and proceeded to give a rousing, impromptu speech on behalf of the city’s partnership with the university.

Randy supports Downtown Dallas, Inc. because it is comprised of energetic, articulate and proactive leaders who act as advocates for Dallas, and pursue goals and objectives similar to those set by Texas A&M University-Commerce. As a university, we have a great stake in the city’s growth and development. While our main campus is less than hour away from Dallas, we have five programs in Dallas, an online M.B.A. program that serves hundreds of Dallas professionals and almost 35,000 alumni living and working in the Dallas area. Our relevant degree offerings also complement DDI’s goals of creating a vibrant employment atmosphere with college educated workers, managers and executives that will help transform Dallas into a city of opportunity led by visionary leaders and motivated, well-trained citizens.
