Looking for a fun and safe way to bring in the New Year? If so, be sure to watch and celebrate the arrival of 2021 with a ten-minute, 360-degree, panoramic, pyrotechnic extravaganza at Reunion Tower. Reunion Tower Over the Top NYE 2020 will light up the Dallas sky beginning at 11:59 p.m. CST on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020. Last year’s show was absolutely incredible and we can’t wait to see the new features added for this year’s version. Our annual fireworks show has become the centerpiece of an hour-long television broadcast called Lone Star NYE. This year’s show, broadcast in Dallas on NBC5 as well as 12 additional Texas markets and markets in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma, will feature the Eli Young Band and singer Ryan Berg from “The Voice.” (https://www.nbcdfw.com/entertainment/the-scene/nbc-5-and-nexstar-to-broadcast-annual-new-years-eve-tv-special-lone-star-nye-2021/2511479/).

REUNION TOWER NYE “FUN FACTS”
This year’s show will feature over 5,000 special effects with some reaching over 800 feet above street level
Pyrotechnic effects will be fired from 90 locations positioned throughout the Tower
The show will be accompanied by a choreographed light show and music simulcast
Last year’s pyrotechnic show was broadcast live in 37 television markets in 14 states, including as far west as Hawaii
The Facebook live stream for last year’s show totaled over 50,000 views and Reunion Tower’s social media account exceeded 5.3 million impressions
This year, we are partnering with Children’s Health Dallas to celebrate and honor its frontline healthcare professionals.
HISTORY OF THE REUNION TOWER FIREWORKS SHOWS
Our first fireworks show from Reunion Tower was Oct 4, 2013 to commemorate the reopening of the newly-renovated observation deck, the GeO-Deck. The uniqueness of firing pyrotechnics off of Reunion Tower generated interest that far exceeded our own high expectations leading us to conclude that an annual show would be a really special “gift to the city.” In subsequent years, we ran Fireworks shows in conjunction with the Texas-OU game that included live entertainment and ticketed parties on the Reunion Lawn.
Our first NYE show started at 11:59pm on 12/31/17 and it was an instant success here locally and beyond. CNN, after having been live from New York for the Eastern Time Zone to usher in the new year, continued its live NYE broadcast from Nashville and New Orleans with some additional footage from other cities ringing in the new year. What transpired at midnight central time and for the next eight minutes surely surprised the show hosts, producers, and viewers as the magnificence and uniqueness of Reunion Tower fireworks led CNN to broadcast our show in its entirety. We realized then that we had something special.
The Hunt Realty/Reunion Tower team has put a significant amount of time and effort into growing the size and scope of the show each year since inception. This “gift to the city” has become something of a Central Time Zone (and further west) phenomenon. The number of television markets showing featuring live broadcasts of our Reunion Tower NYE shows has increased in number each year, reaching a total of 37 different television markets across the Central, Mountain, Pacific and Hawaiian-Aleutian time zones last year!
New this year is the decision to partner with a nonprofit organization, Children’s Health (childrens.com) , to create a unique way to help celebrate its frontline healthcare professionals and the important role it plays in our community. Partnering with Children’s Health creates an opportunity for individuals and corporations alike to help “sponsor” the fireworks show with proceeds going to Children’s Health in a tax deductible manner. This partnership is similar to one that exists, Times Square Alliance, for Times Square and its annual Ball Drop to ring in the New Year. We believe that our partnership will accelerate Reunion Tower’s Over The Top NYE event becoming an integral part of celebrating New Year’s Eve regardless of whether one is in Dallas, Peru, Romania, Kurdistan or wherever else you may be in the world!
