Victory Plaza is our version of Time Square on New Year’s Eve… last Friday it became our version of Good Morning America Downtown Dallas, Inc. style. WFAA gave us the opportunity to showcase Downtown, its changing environment and improved quality of life. It all happened at 5:30 a.m.
“It was very early but we had a blast,” says Steve Shepherd with the Downtown Residents Council.
Our focus was “living well and eating well in Downtown” and it was a team effort. We invited the T. Boone Pickens Downtown YMCA, the Dallas Farmers Market and Doug Brown with the new Lily Pad Café at Main Street Garden
The T. Boone Pickens Downtown YMCA demonstrated several activities that DDI is co-sponsoring at the Main Street Garden. These activities include evening kickball, volleyball and yoga, which will kickoff August 17th.
Sol Calinao with the Dallas Farmers Market and Chef Doug Brown with the Lily Pad Café had a cooking demonstration and used local/organic foods from the Market. Doug also announced the grand opening of the Lily Pad that same morning.
The Downtown Residents Council lead by Steve Shepherd was on hand to represent all Downtown residents. They were wearing Main Street Garden shirts and waving the flag, literally. They held on to our DDI sign.
Special thanks to everyone who helped us make Daybreak on the Plaza a big success, including Councilmember Pauline Medrano for joining our outdoor audience. Thank you!
